Fox Marketing supercharges the Lexus CT 200h [w/video]

Fox Marketing has given Lexus' entry-level hybrid some much-needed teeth, adding an Eaton supercharger to the 2011 CT 200h. The huffer forces air through a Climax Racing intake manifold, helping the CT's 1.8-liter four pot crank out 300 high-voltage ponies.

Fox also says it beefed up the car's batteries, but details on what exactly the company did are nil. The added power means the CT 200h has to work a little harder to stay pointed in the right direction, which Fox addressed with a full-on custom suspension and enormous Baer brakes. The 13-inch Baers sit behind a set of 20-inch wheels sporting a huge offset and healthy 225/30-series meats up front and 255/30s at the back.

You'd think that a 300-horsepower hybrid would make an excellent sleeper, but that's just not Fox Marketing's style. Instead, it cloaked the little Lexus in metallic burnt orange paint, and draped it in a wide body kit, featuring huge three-inch fender flares. Inside, there's a set of Yonaka racing seats complemented with LED Lexus logos on the door panels. Check out a video clip of the car after the jump.

Teams are awarded two points for a win, one point for a draw and from 2008 three points for an away win. Each team races every other team in the league twice at home and twice away. The first of these home and away fixtures are called the ‘A’ fixtures, the second are the ‘B’ fixtures. Placings are determined by points accumulated over all matches. Where two or more teams are tied on league points, the team with the greater difference of race points scored over race points conceded is placed higher. The top four teams qualify for the Championship play-offs. The semi-finals are single matches with the top two league positions having home advantage (1st vs 3rd and 2nd vs 4th). Winners from the semi-finals then meet in a two-legged Grand Final to decide the Elite League Championship winner.

From 2008, promotion and relegation between the Elite League (EL) and Premier League (PL) was introduced for the first time since 1991.[2]. The team finishing last faces the Premier League play-off winner over two legs (one match at each track), with the aggregate winner taking the EL spot in the following season, and the losing team racing in the PL.

MINI Countryman KISS Edition

The New York Auto Show was treated to quite a surprise when rock music legends KISS made a surprise appearance to officially introduce four MINI Countryman vehicles, each wearing one of the band member’s world-famous face paints.

Each of the cars were dressed up with their own unique paint finishes bearing the face paint of each of the four members of the rock band. While the cars aren’t going to be sold to the public, all four special edition Countrymans will be auctioned off during a special Father’s Day eBay charity auction to raise money for UNICEF and its attempts to assist the children of Japan. The auction is scheduled for May 29th, 2011, which, incidentally, is Father’s Day.

The tie-up between MINI and KISS is a joined effort in providing assistance to the people of Japan who were struck with a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami last month. "Our hearts go out to the people of Japan in this time of great tragedy. We wanted to help and also to provide a real way for the KISS Army to get involved," said Gene Simmons, the frontman of KISS.

"UNICEF raises money to help children who are still coping with the effects of these disasters, and also supports other very important emergency relief efforts around the world. Join the KISS Army in giving."

While the cars are set up to be auctioned off on Father’s Day, fans of the both MINI and KISS who won’t be able to buy the cars will get a chance to dress up their MINIs with KISS-inspired wraps, which MINI USA introduced on April 21, 2011. Just like the special edition cars themselves, all proceeds from the sales of these wraps will be given to UNICEF.

When Prince William extended his hand and proposed to Kate Middleton, he probably wasn’t thinking too much about the insane merchandising opportunities that would follow such an act. It seems everyone is getting in on the royal wedding action, from Project Kahn and their Maybach 57 Wedding Commemorative down to Disney and their new vehicles in Cars 2.

In honor of Prince William and his royal family, Disney has added a few new vehicles to their lineup. Meet Prince Wheeliam, a late-model Bentley Continental, and The Queen, a vintage car sporting a classy tiara. The Queen’s vintage look was chosen by looking through archives to find the vehicles the real-life Queen actually rode in around her Coronation.

Character Art Director, Jay Shuster, said: "Specifically with The Queen’s design it took some careful stepping as we, of course, were on hallowed ground emulating a nation’s sovereign as a car. The Queen’s design in our film is inspired by the elegant lines and paint schemes of British car designs of the finest vintage."

"We spent much energy on these designs de-emphasising details such as driving lamps and grilles so that the absolute read of the characters eyes and mouth can convey with maximum clarity: allowing the car to act. Official crests and shields adorn her much in the same way they did her cars in reality. I have to say we spent weeks on perfecting the tiara she wears in our film. Our special effects then made sure each diamond had a translucency and depth to refract the light just so."
